How-To-Create-Buttermilk

Man. It's so hard to find buttermilk here in Jakarta. I'm saying that with regret because there are a lot of great recipes out there that required buttermilk and i just had to skip them because I had no idea where to get one.

But then i found this :

Thank you so much Kay from Kayotic Kitchen! She stated in her blog how to make buttermilk. Geez, I never knew that we could make buttermilk. Kay also blogs about how to make your own butter! Butter!! I am amazed.

I do think her blogs are one of those great blog out there that are worth to see. She mostly cook than baked, but her recipes are easy, yummy and not to mention she is also an amazing food photographer!   :)

Sometimes, when I don't have any buttermilk, I substitute it for yoghurt & skim milk; works just as well! Though I doubt I ever make my own butter!

yes yes! aku juga selama ini pke 1 cup susu ultra + 1 tbsp distilled white vinegar (biasanya merk heinz) yg didiemin selama beberapa menit buat bikin buttermilk, always works like magic, real buttermilk for sure!

makanya dengan bangganya i can say that "sugar crawler bakes authentic red velvet cupcakes" you know, kan katanya authetic red velvet is the ones yg pake buttermilk makanya jadi super moist :D

I always make my own buttermilk [don't get it here either] by adding a tsp of vinegar/lim juice to a cup of milk.

P.S - THanks for the lovely comments!! You made my day :)

pake vinegar ajaaa! tapi vinegar-nya yg asli atau distilled white, jgn sintetis.
klo pke lemon agak2 kurang tangy buttermilk-nya.

*good luck!
